Dance

“Dance is the hidden language of the soul”
-Martha Graham

I’ve always been in love with dance and its beauty. I started dancing when I was in junior high. I did Hip Hop, RnB, Modern, and even Traditional dance. And a year ago, my wish was finally came true. I finally joined Ballet class. I always wanna do Ballet, I think Ballet is a beautiful way of dancing. I know it's kinda late to do a Ballet when you're 18. Once my Ballet teacher asked me if I ever did Ballet before, and she was surprised when I said I never did it before. She said I was really good and it was a great compliment. But sadly 2 months ago I quit Ballet because of some reasons, and actually I miss Ballet, I miss dancing. I want to be pushed past my breaking point. I love the blood on my toes, dripping in sweat after class, and the tears when I try to accomplish the nearly impossible. I practice my balance when waiting in line, and do barre work at the edge of the pool. No matter how bad I am or how often I prove that I’m not at the level of Ballerinas, I will keep on trying. I guess I just love Ballet. And if I've had my chance, I want to try Contemporary dance. Contemporary has its own beauty in my perspective. It’s different that other dances. We can see when people dance contemporary, they give their all to it. Their mind and their heart follows to the music and we can clearly see the emotion through the dance. Maybe one day, I’ll go back to Ballet. One day, I’ll be able to wear my pointé shoes and bourrée without any discomfort, like I once did. I will do the perfect arabesque. I will perfect spotting and I will be able to do pirouettes for as long as I want. Maybe I’ll even master the fouetté en tournant. Maybe I’ll even be a prima ballerina. Oh and when I’ll come back, I want my debut to be a solo performance to Chopin’s Nocturne Op. 9 No. 2. I will come back. It may not be in this life, but one day, I will be dancing ballet again. But for now, I’ll settle with whatever dance is available because it makes me happy.
